Coach’s Closet

About fifty-five years ago, Coach Young passed two bags of track spikes to his young mentee, Coach Evertt McAdams, in dusty Clint, Texas, east of El Paso.  Coach McAdams quickly realized the monumental impact the shoes had on his athletes’ lives through their ability to participate in sports.  Since that day, God has been gracious to keep Coach stocked with shoes and equipment ahead of the needs that he encounters.

Coach McAdams went on to coach successful cross country and track programs at Plains High School for over 40 years that continue up to the present under the direction of his former athletes.

Good News: Anything God starts will outlast us and continue perpetually beyond and despite us, yet he calls us, for a brief moment, to retell the story and be the pillar for the next generation.

We feel honored to be tasked with carrying on this tradition.  The two bags of spikes have grown to fill an entire closet, Coach’s Closet!  One of our former athletes, Eagle Scout Michael Wales, will create a weather-proof, theft-proof donation box for Coach’s Closet.  We aspire to bring needed spikes and equipment to the schools and athletes who need them.
