Preliminary Cross Country Info:

General Info

  • 12 week season
  • Start date is July 28th for an October 18th state meet
  • Or August 4th for an October 25th state meet
  • 6th through 12th grades

Practices

  • 3-day minimum for beginners (9 to 15 miles per week)
  • Monday 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM – Various parks (start at 4:30 PM; Typically end time depends on mileage)
  • Wednesday 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM – Usually at Jan Jennings Park with about 4 late September/October Wednesdays at LCU (track days may have altered times 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM perhaps based on LCU availability)
  • Friday 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM Usually at Frank Higinbotham Park
  • Athletes who have worked up to 20 or more miles per week over the summer will need to run 4 to 6 days per week.
  • 4-day minimum for varsity athletes (20 or more miles a week)
  • Hill Camp is preferred, and summer mileage and state meet are required for varsity athletes
  • Check with Coach Melissa about the practice schedule.
